Hunger for Africa

From a reinsurance broking perspective, the market locally (generally speaking) seems a lot softer on the facultative side of things. I hate to say it, but that sector of the market seems to be more involved in 'price-taking' as opposed to actual underwriting. This is no fault of the underwriters, as it is driven by the retail broking sector, and also by the fact that if one underwriter isn't happy with the price on offer, the broker will ultimately find someone else who is willing to assist.

Risk SA Article

I first got into Reinsurance around 1997 a treaty underwriter with Hollandia (prior to this I spent roughly six years at three different insurance companies, in varying roles). Oak Tree 2013 Ladies Day Spa

2013 was our 2nd year of organising the Ladies Spa Day and we wanted to celebrate a positive year with our lady clients. We chose a spa in Chartwell called HoyoHoyo, which means the "highest form of an enthusiastic, festive, zealous, celebratory and "royal" welcome". Ladies arrived to a welcome drink of champagne & orange, and after an enthusiastic and extended breakfast, everyone was gowned up and ready for some serious pampering. Lunch was delicious, but an awkward step saw some of the ladies almost flat on the floor. After a couple more treatments, which now meant that our hands, feet, head, shoulders, neck, body and face had all been indulged, we got changed and met for cocktails. After all the goodbyes were said, we hit the road feeling relaxed and lazy.
