Oak Tree Annual Fishing Classic 2015
Another year has come and gone and with it brings the end to the Oak Tree Annual Fishing Classic , this years’ event was held at the picturesque Ngwenya Lodge on Msuna Island, Zimbabwe - on the mighty Zambezi River, home to the monster tiger fish. This year, the tournament was held over two days, and there were four teams consisting of 2 people - namely Team Oak Tree, Team African Rand, Team Guardrisk /African Motor Underwriting Managers and Team PLUM.
The fishing was tough and those fishermen amongst you will know that catching a Tiger Fish is no easy feat. Through the blistering heat and low water conditions, a worthy congratulations is owed to Richard Eales and Alan Morgan of team Guardrisk / AMUM who were victorious this year, with a combined bag weight of 73 lb with 16 tiger fish caught. They will get bragging rights on the floating trophy and are granted an automatic invite to come and defend the trophy in 2016.
The prize for best fisherman was adjudicated to Anton Venter of Team African Rand - Anton landed an 11lb “whopper” of a Tiger Fish, the biggest fish over the two day competition! Ryan Shepard of Team Oak Tree and Andre Pienaar of Team PLUM shared the spoils in the Worst Fisherman prize and they will share the floating trophy for six months each, until next year’s Fishing Classic commences. The deal here is that the trophy (which is a ballerina) has to displayed on the recipients desk in full view so that people will ask what it’s all about!
The total number of Tiger Fish caught over the week was 51.
Oak Tree Intermediaries wishes to thank all those involved in the 2015 Classic, as it was a truly memorable one!
